Article from AWB

ashington State University is celebrating a $20 million endowment to help construct a “student success” building for the WSU Voiland College of Engineering and Architecture.

Edmund and Beatrice Schweitzer are giving $10 million, with the other $10 million coming from Pullman-based Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories. It’s the largest gift ever to the Voiland College and one of the biggest to WSU of all time.

“An investment in student success of this magnitude is a game changer for the Voiland College and for the entire WSU system,” WSU President Kirk Schulz said. Demand for engineers is growing. Voiland College’s enrollment has increased to 5,500 students from just over 4,200 a decade ago.

The new Schweitzer Engineering Hall, as it will be called, is being designed as a central hub for engineering and design students to innovate and collaborate. WSU aims to break ground in 2024.
